Summary: Average 70s action film
Charlie Chin plays an unfortunate cab driver who is being pursued by some thugs played by Jackie Chan and John Cheung. He doesn’t know at first why they are chasing him down, but discovers that what they are after is a bag that a woman left in his cab just before she died, and the thugs must get e bag back for their boss. Charlie Chin soon changes into a more ruthless character from his ‘Mr Nice Guy’ character as he goes in search for the thugs in retaliation for the woman’s death after meeting her sister who is a police woman (played by Woo Gam, in one of her first films).
An early seventies action film with the popular Charlie Chin as the main role. Would look very bad these days I think, but back then it looked pretty good, even with a terribly low budget. The camera work is very poor too, a lot of the shots are not straight and often shaking. Charlie Chin was always one of those popular stars in the late sixties and seventies, and his acting was quite good. But I don’t know why Jackie Chan was in it, as there were plenty of other people who could have played his role.
However, the only format I know of it, is an unsubtitled VHS version released in Hong Kong, but I’m not sure of the Chinese name, because the writing was not clear enough for me to understand. But, an international label released the same film with a very badly dubbed English dialog under another name (I think it was ‘Rumble In HK’).
